The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It controls the flow of hot and cold water into the washer. This component is crucial for starting the wash cycle, as it opens to allow water to enter and closes to stop the flow once the appropriate level is reached, ensuring efficient wash performance.

Causes of a bad Water Inlet Valve can include mineral deposits and sediment build-up, which can obstruct the flow of water, or mechanical failure such as a broken solenoid that prevents the valve from opening or closing properly.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • Water not filling the tub at the beginning of the cycle
  • Water leaking from the valve
  • Washer not starting due to inability to fill
  • Unusual noises from the valve area during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Maureen, It does sound like you have a fill valve problem, or a low slow hot water supply. The correct fill valve to order for the model number you supplied [110.92478100] is 285805. It would be wise to "flush" both water supply lines and faucets, so you have proper, and clear supply. Replace the hose washers and screens 285452A and WPY013783 two of each.
