Hope January 28, 2014 for Model Number LXR9245EQ1 Hello, my washer started having a small drip right above the tub. There was no water on the floor. Do I need to order the water inlet valve? Thank you, Hope
1 Answer Hope, Yes, you're going to need to replace the fill valve 285805 . Water dripping into or onto the tub assembly, is an indication of a faulty diaphragm or plunger inside the fill valve. This could be due to sediment in the water line, or mineral deposits in the water. It will get worse, eventually so you probably need to replace the valve as soon as possible. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Roy, You should first remove the cold water supply hose from the back of the unit and check for screens that could be clogged. There is one screen in the water inlet of the valve that could be clogged. If it is removed, be sure to re-install it after cleaning to avoid replacing the valve in the near future since it protects it from mineral deposits and sedimentation in the water supply. If none of the screens are clogged, you will need to replace the water inlet valve. Read More...

Donna December 21, 2013 for Model Number W10200890A My Roper washer won't stop filling--even when unplugged. I have to shut the water valve off. Can you tell me what it could be and what part I'd need to order? Thanks!
Jw December 12, 2013 for Model Number mav6457aww Washer works normally but after rinse/spin cycle finish's water continues to trickle in and stops within about 10 minutes or so but still have run spin cycle to get extra water out! Is this a water inlet valve problem?
1 Answer Hello JW. Yes, it sounds like the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Wade November 27, 2013 for Model Number 110.92060110 Water fills, but does not stop. Is this the inlet Valve, Timer control, or is there a float/water level control?
1 Answer Hello Wade. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit. Read More...
Aussie November 13, 2013 So my washing machine isn't getting hot water, sounds like it's trying but solenoid in inlet valve is busted so replacing inlet valve is what I'm thinking of doing. My question is, when I took the old one out, each inlet had a marking H or C. However, this did not match what the back of the washer said. Perhaps this has been replaced incorrectly before? I tried switching the hoses but then I just don't get cold. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Aussie. Make sure the valve is turned the right way. If so, they should match up. Read More...
Ron October 23, 2013 for Model Number LLR8245AWO My washer will not fill with cold water in the rinse cycle, but will with hot water in the rinse cycle. I check the both supply hose and valves and they were o k..
1 Answer Hello Ron. Either the water hoses are on the wrong valve or the wires to the valve are wrong. You will need to check and see which is bad on the unit. Read More...
John K. September 11, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool LBR4221EW0 My washer drips from what I think is the vacuum break (flat, white plastic plate near the rear of the top of the tub). It's a slow drip but enough to fill the tub with a couple of inches after a day. I suspect the inlet valve (285805) might be the part that's failing. If this is the likely part, is it a good practice to replace the vacuum break inlet hose (3357328) too? If I'm wrong about the inlet valve being the culprit, what other parts should I look at? I haven't had a chance to take the washer apart yet to take a look inside. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...
1 Answer Hello John. The vaccum break should be fine if it is not broken. You just need to replace the inlet valve on the unit. Read More...
Fred September 03, 2013 9 yr old Maytag top load washer. The fill function does not shut off and overflows the tub. I have to turn off at spigot seems to be on the hot side only. Also a sqealing / whistle type sound happened once on the fill cycle. Last year Hot side supply hose screen was clogged and not letting hot water once we cleaned it out the machine operated fine until now. This is in a seasonal home and the machine operates on softened well water is used infrequently but lots of loads 5-6 times a year.
1 Answer Fred, The post would indicate that the hot water solenoid plunger has stuck "open", and allows the washer to continually fill. As you found out, high pitched noises and squealing sounds during a fill cycle, is usually due to a water flow issue(clogged screens, high or low water pressure, etc.) the noise is the water attempting to flow through the diaphragm and valve body at the wrong pressure. Fill valve failures can occur at any time and can be due to various reasons, It's nothing you did or didn't do, and it's not really an issue in the washer or water supply. Read More...
