Ice maker stopped making ice. Steve C. • Dripping Springs , TX • September 30, 2019
Well, I got online and found several YouTube videos on how to check what was happening. I have a multimeter and tools. I first replaced the external water filter just to make sure it wasn't that, and it needed it. That wasn't the problem. I then removed the water inlet valve which was really easy. I didn't disconnect the water lines but I did unplug the power plug. Using the ohms setting on the meter, I tested the coil of the valve solenoid. It wasn't open. I checked the voltage at the plug...

Old plastic water line broke and i broke the valve trying to pull the end of the water line out Ronald W. • Sagaponack , NY • May 13, 2017
I replace the water inlet valve in my refrigerator about 8 months ago. About a week ago, the old plastic water line broke. I forgot how the water line connector worked and broke the valve trying to pull it out. I got a new valve and replacement water line, and it went in easily, just like the video said.
Morals of the story:
1. Know how to remove the old plastic water line. I could have saved myself the price of a new valve if I'd remembered how the connector worked. Unless you have a really...

Water inlet tube routes incoming water from the refrigerator's supply line to the dispenser and ice maker, restoring proper water flow and helping stop leaks when a cracked or damaged inlet tube is the problem. What it does:
- Directs incoming water to the ice maker and dispenser; a damaged tube can cause weak or no water flow and reduced ice production.
- Cracks, splits, kinks or loose connections commonly produce visible leaks under or behind the refrigerator.
- Replacing the inlet tube restores reliable water delivery and helps prevent continued water damage from a compromised line.
- Inspect nearby fittings and clamps during replacement — loose or corroded fittings are a common related cause of leaks.
What's included: One water inlet tube. Install notes:
- Turn off the water supply and disconnect power before starting — uncontrolled water or live electrical parts create safety hazards.
- Relieve residual water pressure and catch any drips; have towels or a shallow pan ready.
- Replace any damaged clamps, seals, or fittings and tighten connections to factory torque; inspect surrounding tubing for additional damage.
