I found that the Ice Maker in my GE side by side made ice but would not kick out the ice when it had formed, the heating element or the switch that controls it didn't work. I ordered a new ice maker switched it out took less than 3 minutes. The cord was very stiff and just long enough but I got it to connect and in 35-40 minutes I had fresh ICE!!

Googled broken part using refrigerator model #. Whole ice maker auger/bucket assembly was < 2.5x the cost of the auger alone. Amazon didn't stock it and the other online stores were similarly priced but a bit higher. Shipping was $8.00 for FedEx ground. Be careful with their ground service as it will always take longer than the shipping estimate. I had purchased items from Appliance Parts Pros in the past finding it's website the best for detailed diagrams and ease of navigation.

Ordered New ice bin, since auger not available on its own. It came as a complete set with front cover. When new bin arrived, front cover did not match ours, so we removed the front of new ice bin and replaced with our ice bin cover. It was one or two screws to remove. Extremely easy.
