Freezer evaporator motor was howling Timothy M. • Marble Falls , TX • December 27, 2015
Once I purchased the correct motor it literally took less that 10 minutes from start to finish to replace the motor. After unplugging the refrigerator, I unscrewed two machine screws to remove the cover and unscrewed two machine screws to remove the motor. I removed the old motor from the housing, installed the new motor, reattached the motor to the refrigerator, replaced the cover, and plugged in the refrigerator. Installation was quick and simple. AppliancePartsPros service was excellent...

The refrigerator side was not cooling Bryan W. • Austin , TX • February 28, 2020
After checking the suggested fixes and parts on Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the defrost thermostat and evap motor for my refrigerator, a Kitchen Aid KSSC42QTS00. Installation was very easy, simply emptying the freezer and removing the access panel in the back bottom half. Upon getting everything open, I found out that the existing evap motor was working fine, so I didn't install that part. I did install the defrost thermometer, which was a 5-minute process. I also cleared out the vent...

Evaporator fan noise William O. • Oakmont , PA • December 18, 2014
Removed refrigerator panel, disconnected light and fan power. Removed fan assembly and replaced motor, grommets and fan attachment spring. Unit had adhesive on spring to help hold the spring. Chatted with customer service and clarified that spring and fan would easily pull off motor shaft. Adhesive probably was extra measure used during original build of the fridge.
Noise was due to fan rubbing on housing. New fan position set to avoid any rubbing.

Loud noise coming from freezer. Periodic grinding like an old fan/motor. Jimmy F. • Evanston , IL • July 26, 2022
The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into.
It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Found this site, clicked 'noisy' and got the replacement evaporator fan motor blade as well as the motor evaporator.
Turned out I didn't really need to replace the fan blade, but since I had it and ours was old, figured I might as well put in the new parts.
Followed the videos here, which were really helpful. The...

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Side by side fridge had stopped cooling in both fridge and freezer and was hot to touch in center between the two Robert P. • King , NC • August 11, 2015
I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Once that was done, I started cleaning from the back and noticed the fan wasn't turning week (condensor fan). Blew it out too, have it a good soon with a pencil, it puffed out a bunch of...
