Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The motor on our clothes dryer was doing a "self protection" thermal or overload shutdown and there was a strong odor in the tub   Jim S. • Fallon , NV • November 27, 2015

It took two repair attempts to fix the dryer. At first, I noticed that the rear felt seal was completely worn out, so I thought that extra friction between the tub and the rear panel might be causing the motor to have to work too hard and overheat. I ordered a new seal from appliancepartspros.com, and installed it according to their instructional video, but it did not correct the problem. Then I decided that the motor must be going bad, so I watched the on-line video on how to remove the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The lever to turn on dryer was broken the handle was broken and the latch was broken   David R. • Jemison , AL • February 09, 2015

I opened the top of the dryer (after watching the video on your website) and replaced the lever on the switch. Removed two screws near the lint filter, used a putty knife to release fasteners under the top and raised the top. Held it in place with a short piece of board then removed the two screws holding in the switch and lever. Replaced the broken lever with the new one and put it all back together. The handle was a little more difficult as it took a lot more prying with a screwdriver to... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool dryer wouldn't run   Scott M. • Orange , CA • October 03, 2014

I'd replaced the motor that I purchased here about a month ago. It worked fine for a few weeks, then it just stopped and wouldn't start. I searched on the Internet and found the 3 most likely culprits. Since the dryer is 24+ years old, I decided to just purchase all 3 and replace them. The dryer cycling thermostat was different than the original, so I didn't replace it. 20 minutes and I had the dryer thermal fuse and thermostat replaced and the dryer functioning. I ordered the parts on... Read more

Control Board
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP8571916

This is a Whirlpool dryer control board and user interface. It sits behind the outer control panel on top of the dryer and manages and monitors the dryer's cycles based on user input. The control board can short out due to power surge or exposure to excessive heat or moisture. If the dryer's display is showing error code F-02, if the display is blank or dark, or if it is not responding to user input, the control board has likely shorted out. Before installing this part, be sure to cut power to the appliance and allow it to cool completely. The dryer will need to be pulled away from the wall to access the screws holding the outer control panel in place. Remove the screws from each side of the control panel to gain access to the old control board. Disconnect any wire harnesses connected to it and remove any screws mounting it in place before installing the new part. This is a genuine OEM part compatible with dryers manufactured by Whirlpool brands, including Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and others. This product contains no additional parts or hardware.
