Washer won't drain or spin? A clogged or failed drain pump is the likely cause. This part removes water from the tub between cycles. DIY repair in 15-30 minutes.
So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. After a quick Google search, I came to the conclusion that the pump was bad and ordered a pump, $125. Over the course of the next four days, expecting the new pump on Thursday, I baled out the washer, pulled it out from the wall and propped up the front (it's HEAVY), removed the front access panel, removed the drain inlet and outlet... Drive belt connects motor to drum for wash and spin cycles. Replace if washer won't spin, clothes stay wet, or you smell burning rubber. Verify fit.
I replaced the spin bearing, tub seal, washer and drive belt since I had it all apart. The video was extremely helpful...I would have tore the whole thing apart trying to figure out how the agitator came off....but it was very simple. Read more

The Agitator is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire washing machines. This component is responsible for moving clothes during the wash cycle, ensuring that water and detergent are evenly distributed for effective cleaning. The agitator's motion helps to loosen dirt and stains from fabrics. The agitator measures approximately 17" tall
Causes of a bad agitator can include wear and tear over time, damage from washing heavy or unbalanced loads, or issues with the agitator’s internal mechanisms that reduce its efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad Agitator include:
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.
This was a fairly easy fix. The only problem I had was that the cover over the retaining nut was difficult to pull off. I changed to a larger pair of pliers and put a little more muscle to it and it popped right out. There was a little corrosion on the shaft that needed to scraped off for the new agitator to slide on easily but after that was gone the new part slid on and with some downward pressure it seated in. Washer won't fill with water or only fills with hot? The water inlet valve controls water flow into the tub. DIY repair takes about 30 minutes.
This is my third repair of this type. The first was a stand-alone washer and was very easy, because there was a plate on which the inlet valve assembly was mounted, and it was easily removed. This repair was on a Frigidaire stacked washer/dryer (laundry center). Stacked washer/dryers are typically purchased to save space and are often tucked into a closet. Be sure you can pull it out to access both front and rear. Remove drain hose from drain, detach water hoses, electricity and dryer vent... Read more

Replacement drain hose directs used water from your washer to the household drain. Needed when original hose is cracked, split, or leaking.
Our washer is next door the bathroom. So when, during the rinse cycle, the hose split and we found the back of the house completely flooded I initially assumed the culprit was either the toilet or the sink or possibly an interdimentional portal into a demonic netherworld of vaguely chlorine scented water. I spent the next hour mopping it all up and checking and re-checking the pipes in the bathroom with no apparent leaks. The next load of laundry left more clues as this time the flood was from... Washer won't fill or keeps filling without stopping? This water inlet valve controls hot and cold water flow. Common DIY repair, usually under 30 minutes.
Part arrived in one day! Replaced the water valve. YouTube video for replacing water valve on Frigidaire top-loading washers was spot-on. Read more
Replaces missing, stripped, or rusted 8-18 thread screws that secure dryer panels, brackets, and components for tight, rattle-free assembly.
It was easy to find the part on appliance parts pros. Once I found it I studied the diagram and determined that there were 3 screws in the drum that needed to be removed. I disconnected power and then removed 3 interior screws. Once I did that I removed the back cover and removed the single screw on the bottom side of the air duct that held it in place connected to the heat tube. I then reversed disassembly. I want to tell you this is a 2 person job. In order to assemble it you need to... Read more
If your washer won't start or the lid won't unlock, the lid lock switch may have failed. This DIY repair typically takes 10-15 minutes with basic tools.
1) Ordered part. 2) Removed front panel by loosening the two screws at the bottom front. 3) Removed old Safety Switch/Lid Lock by disconnecting wires (plug and 2 female disconnects) 4) Reconnected all wires and reinstalled switch. 5) Replaced front panel. 6) Tested Unit. 7) FYI - I found that the locking mechanism stays locked until cycle completely finishes on its own. DO NOT force the cycle to end. Lid will NOT unlock. Read more
Secures the blower wheel to the motor shaft in your dryer. Replace if worn, loose, or causing rattling noises to restore proper airflow. Verify fit by model.
The blower wheel center was worn down and spinning freely on shaft. Removing front covers, controls and brackets gave access to blower, which front half came off removing screws. (One screw underneath bracket) Pushed new blower on. (It's keyed and has small tabs that line up with groove on shaft). Installed clamp, reassembled and tested. Washer motor won't start or stops mid-cycle? This motor start capacitor stores electrical energy to start your washer motor. Moderate DIY repair.
I found your site which was most helpful. I saw on your forum, that others had replaced a motor & capacitor with + results. I was willing to spend what I thought was a reasonable amount & your guarantee was the clincher. I knew that if I called the appliance store where we had purchased the washer in 1998, it would be very expensive & even more important, it would take many days as they would have to order the part & then schedule a service call. I installed the motor & capacitor & was... Read more
