The frost & ice building up inside upright freezer. Jackie R. • De Leon , TX • January 13, 2023
Frost & ice were building up inside the top of our upright freezer, so I replaced the door gasket. First I'll make my long story short, then I'll tell the longer story for those who might be interested and might benefit from my experience.
Short version - The whole project took about three hours, but less than an hour of that would have been required if I were more of a handyman and if the freezer hadn't had prior work done on the door for the same frost buildup problem.
Long version - When...

21 month old Frigidaire upright freezer died. John P. • Enola , PA • August 02, 2019
Noticed Rolls on the top shelf no longer frozen, though the meat around it still was. Note: This is a good test, keep something that thaws quickly and is not expensive on top shelf, to act as a barometer for your freezer health!
I first found a trip online to advance the defrost timer, as a failed timer is a common issue. I advanced the timer, but nothing happened. I emptied the freezer, then removed the thermostat and tested it. No continuity! With the Freezer continuing to thaw, I...

Upright frost free freezer would not keep food frozen (Frigidaire name plate but made by (Electrolux) testing determined the refrigeration system worked but it would not defrost. Kenton K. • Chanhassen , MN • May 31, 2020
Fixed it by replacing the electronic control board. Only 30 min. to fix. (See further down for effort to diagnose the problem.) Most of this "fixing time" was spent removing the control panel to access the control board that is attached to it. My freezer has the control panel located in the top center of the door. The only way to remove the control panel is to pry the panel out of the door using a thin-bladed putty knife. The instructions provided were very good in explaining the process;...

Sy ev (which could be evaporator fan motor or main electric board Timo G. • Hoover , AL • November 26, 2016
Replaced both
The electrical board I found under the fridge was very easy to replace.
The fan motor took a minute to bed puns and the biggest challenge was taking off/on the back panel to get to it. (By the way it was located in the freezer section. take drawers out to get to it.

Broken handle on refrigerator door Margaret J. • North Olmsted , OH • January 29, 2016
I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. Removing the old handle and installing the replacement was very easy. It looks great, in fact the replacement is metal, whereas the original was plastic, so it looks better than it ever did!

The compressor was not working and the fan was not working. Janet C. • Monticello , FL • July 18, 2020
I tested the fan outside of the freezer with an adapted direct plug-in cord and it ran fine. I tested the controller tsd it was within the good range along with the run capacitor and it tested good as well. I then tested the compressor resistance, it tested good, although the compressor could have been mechanically bad, it wasn't and I don't know of a way to test for it. I found a youtube video and tested the defrost control which seemed to be bad. Then I tested the control-temperature...
