Broken drum drive belt Bourque, N. • Rosenberg , TX • October 31, 2016
First, I did a search based on the problem I had with my model of dryer. The model number was on the door frame and was visible when I opened the dryer door. The problem was, when I pressed the button to start a dryer cycle, I heard a clicking noise and the indicator text changed to "Drying", but I could not hear or see the dryer drum turning. The search led me to a page that indicated my problem was usually one of 3 common causes. 1. Faulty door switch 2. Broken Drum drive belt 3. burned out...

Part Number: WE03X37318
The Dryer Front Bearing Drum Slide (White, 2-Pack) is an OEM replacement part for GE dryers. These slides are located on the front panel of the dryer and work to support the drum as it rotates. The white slides are designed to reduce friction between the drum and the panel, ensuring smooth operation and helping to prolong the life of the appliance.
Over time, these slides can wear out due to constant movement, heat, and friction. When worn or damaged, the drum may not rotate as intended, leading to noise and reduced efficiency.
Symptoms of bad dryer front bearing drum slides include:
- Squeaking or grinding noises during operation
- The drum appearing loose or sagging at the front
- Clothes not drying evenly or taking longer to dry
- Visible wear or thinning on the existing drum slides
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Dryer began to take much longer to dry clothing what once took 30 minutes now took 2 hours Steven M. • Monett , MO • July 10, 2015
We cleaned out all ducts carefully and did other basic troubleshooting but it did not help.
Began to research the problem on-line and discovered that this dryer has two heating elements. One can fail while the other continues to provide heat - but with a large impact on drying time.
Watched youtube videos and how to take apart the dryer to reach the heating coils.
Tested the heating elements for continuity with tester and the outer loop had no continuity indicating it was broken somewhere. ...

The drum front support bearing was breaking Stuart E. • Rochester , NY • December 14, 2024
I followed the directions I found on YouTube for removing the front of the dryer. It was fairly easy, with two screws to remove the top and another two to remove the front. Just use a hand Phillips screwdriver, you will have difficulty using a typical power screwdriver due to space limitations. Watch the tabs on the top that engage with the control panel. Push the top to the left to disengage. I broke one of the three. One connector and two fastons needed to be disconnected on the front. ...

Very loud squeal noise Thomas P. • Dundalk , MD • June 05, 2018
Repair went well, replaced the pulley wheel, belt, rear drum bearing. Had an issue after replacement with the dryer stopping after ~5mins or so when running with heat. Fluff cycle would run fine.
Details:
The lock nut on the pulley wheel didn't feel tight enough so i tried to crimp it back on the pulley arm. It then became way too lose. I had to replace it with a plastic washer I had in my toolkit. That fit snug and seems to work fine. I also added some grease to the pulley shaft under...

Loud squeaking noise from front top area of ge dryer as drum turned Christopher S. • Closter , NJ • July 12, 2016
Found the entire top bearing support plastic piece was completely worn through, the bearing slides had all disappeared some time ago. So it was obviously the problem. The felt trap duct (which is actually a drum seal along bottom front of drum so I don't know why they call it felt trap duct) had also disappeared, so a lot of lint was getting inside the front panel too. It's a very easy repair to change the bearing support; everything just pops out just like the video shows. Make sure you...

Sig other had continued to operate dryer until it ate through the side of the cabinet and into the front door (destroying all the plastic parts in the process) Jim S. • Horseheads , NY • September 21, 2018
Replaced front panel and inner liner of door (kit), trap duct assembly, both bearing slides (gray and white), and drum front support bearing. Procedure is pretty much what one sees in the video clips. Exceptions in our case included:
1. The fact that our door latch¹ was on the front panel while the door strike² was on the door. The newer (replacement) design has the latch on the door and the strike on the front panel!
2. The new door did NOT have the door latch installed (as shown in the...

The original problem was that the drum would quit turning during drying operations. Randall B. • Moab , UT • April 08, 2018
Upon examination of the dryer, I noticed that the belt was intact, though a little worn and hard. However, I noticed that the belt had came of the idler pulley. So I put it back on and had the owners try it out on their next load of wash. It, once again failed to keep the drum turning. So I ordered a new belt and idler pulley (order # 8676164). I found it necessary to remove the drum, in order to change out the new pulley. However, while trying to reinstall the drum, we damaged some of the...

Dryer start button buzzed when turned dryer wouldn't start. David D. • Dallas , TX • December 20, 2020
Looked at the diagnostic help on Appliance Parts Pros.com and the start switch was the problem, but only 25% of the time, so I was a little concerned it may be a different problem. The switch was reasonably priced, so I ordered it and it arrived in two days!
It was very easy to follow the repair video, however, my GE Gas dryer had a lot of screws rather than 2 screws and tabs on the model in the video, so it took a little more time to open up. After turning off the gas and unplugging the...

I was trying to troubleshot a problem I had with my GE dryer not starting. I went to AppliancePartsPros.com because they have excellent DYI videos on how to make repairs. I determined that the problem was in the push start switch. I ordered the switch online and it took 3 days to arrive. It took 5 minutes to replace the switch and the dryer works perfectly.

Door handle on ge dryer broke off Laura N. • Glen Gardner , NJ • June 27, 2014
My husband found the exact handle we needed to replace the one on our dryer at AppliancePartsPros.com and we ordered it. When it came, we replaced it. I know this sounds like a simple story, but honestly, it's much more. For weeks, this broken dryer handle was driving me crazy. Finally, my husband realized that AppliancePartsPros would likely have the part--and they did. We ordered the part on a weekend and got it on Monday. I couldn't believe it.
