This aluminum strap secures the defrost heater firmly against the evaporator coil to maintain proper contact during defrost. Correct contact improves heat transfer so frost melts evenly and helps prevent recurring ice buildup on the evaporator.
Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. Inlet valve to icemaker
I replaced the valve that turns the water flow on/off to the door and to the ice maker. It was allowing water to seep internally past it's seals. Replacing the valve solved both problems. Simple job, no more than 10 minutes start to finish.. Read more
