Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". Replaces a cracked, broken, or missing dishwasher vent cover that mounts on the inner door panel. Shields the exhaust opening and directs airflow.
The 4 screws that hold the vent cover in place also hold the assembly inside the door that has the heater motor and other items. The four screws go through the assembly inside the door, through the door and into 4 plastic legs on the vent cover. Two of the legs on the vent cover were broken and therefore the vent cover and the assembly inside the door were not being held tight against the door. The water was leaking in that area. Read more
