Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Handle fell off and i broke the glass on the door when reinstalling it   Jeremy P. • Hillsboro , OR • March 22, 2015

Don't bend the glass even a little! I made the mistake of laying mine on the handle face down when reinstalling the handle because the screws fell out and I bent the glass slightly when tightening the screws. Boom, it shattered in a million pieces. I instantly went to AppliancePartsPros.com to find a replacement. Ordering was easy as usual, shipment arrived quickly, and the door was packed perfectly. I removed the old door from the oven by releasing the hinges and lifting it out. To avoid... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door would not close all the way so the light stayed on   Scott M. • Placerville , CA • July 19, 2016

I was able to order new hinge receiver brackets for the door. The repair was not that bad. I just had to take off the lower door, take the two trim pieces off the sides and unscrew the screws holding the oven into the face of the cabinet. Then slide it out about halfway and put a step stool under the front to keep it from tipping over. Then it was just a matter of taking off everything around the sides until I could take the brackets off, put the new brackets on, and put everything back... Read more

Oven Door Hinge (Right-Hand, White)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP9760571

  • Provides the pivot point and spring tension for the oven door
  • Helps the door open smoothly and close completely for a tight seal
  • Wear or damage can cause sagging, misalignment, or slamming/falling open
  • Heat loss from a poor seal may lead to long preheat or temperature fluctuations
What's included: One right-hand door hinge assembly.
  • Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before servicing
  • The hinge is spring-loaded—support the door and use care to avoid injury
  • Remove the door per your model's instructions, then replace the right-side hinge

Fuse (Time-Delay)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10017410

This time-delay fuse protects the appliance's power circuit by opening when current exceeds a safe level while tolerating brief inrush current. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the root cause is corrected. What it does:

  • Protects the line and control circuits from shorts and overloads
  • Time-delay design helps prevent nuisance opening during startup surges
  • When open, the unit will be completely dead—no display, lights, or response
  • Repeatedly opening usually indicates an unresolved electrical fault that needs diagnosis
What's included:
  • 1 time-delay fuse
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; some appliances can retain dangerous high voltage
  • Replace only with the same type and rating specified by the manufacturer
  • Inspect the fuse holder and wiring for heat damage or loose connections before reassembly
  • If the new fuse opens immediately, stop and diagnose the underlying cause; never bypass or upsize a fuse

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave stated ‘door open’ and would not work.   Margo D. • Tarpley , TX • March 17, 2019

I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! We replaced the fuse, bus fuse, and light bulb (quit working 2 years ago) and all is working. Thanks for the information and for the part diagram. Couldn't have done it without you. Read more

Oven Door Hinge (Left-Hand, White)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool

This left-hand oven door hinge assembly restores smooth, spring-assisted door movement and a tight seal. Replacing a worn or bent hinge helps the door close properly, reducing heat loss and improving cooking performance and safety.

  • Supports and pivots the door; spring mechanism controls opening/closing tension
  • Helps the door close fully and compress the gasket for a proper seal
  • Corrects sagging, misalignment, or popping doors caused by hinge wear
  • Common symptoms: door won't close or stay shut, drops open, uneven gaps, heat escaping, oven light stays on
What's included: 1 left-hand door hinge assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before servicing
  • Remove the door per your model's instructions; support the door and release hinge locks before lifting off
  • Left-hand specific: install on the left side when facing the appliance
  • Hinge springs are under tension—use caution, and wear gloves and eye protection

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door was difficult to remove and put back on   Steve B. • Greensboro , NC • February 27, 2017

The door hinge latches were bent, which made it difficult to remove the door and re-insert. The door hinge design was changed from a pin insert to a latch from the previous model. Unfortunately, the latch on the 24 inch oven is thin and easily bent, which is likely the source of the problem. I purchased spare door hinges to facilitate re-installing the oven door should I ever have problems with removing and inserting the door again. Read more

  • Always disconnect the appliance from power before accessing electrical components
  • Discharge the capacitor before handling to avoid shock; use insulated tools and follow safety procedures

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our Whirlpool Accubake system microwave which is part of the cabinet combo stopped heating and the interior light stopped working.   Darnell W. • Uxbridge , MA • October 23, 2021

I love the videos produced by your organization. They may not cover the exact appliance, however, they provide insight into safety and concepts in approaching the job. Disassembly, removing, and replacing the magnetron, capacitor, diode, and light bulb, which took about 3 hrs from start to finish resulted in a working microwave with light. The rep that answer questions and checked my parts prior to ordering was a confidence builder. I never attempted a job like this before. Yet, with... Read more

  • Steps down line voltage to the lower voltage used by the light circuit
  • Supports consistent, reliable interior lighting
  • A failed transformer can leave the light inoperative even with a good bulb
  • Intermittent operation or flickering can indicate a weakening transformer
What's included: 1 transformer Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the unit before servicing
  • Access and mounting location vary by model; note wiring and orientation before removal
  • Move wires one at a time to the matching terminals/leads on the new transformer
  • Secure the transformer and route wiring away from hot or moving parts; test light operation before reassembly

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Double oven would not work correctly/runaway high temp cycle (control board problem) also oven lights would not come on.   David S. • Hartwell , GA • June 19, 2023

Studied schematics and watched many on-line videos. Did some electrical checks with VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter). Determined that control panel thermal fuse attached to back of control panel had opened due to high temp. Determined that the upper oven thermal fuse on back of oven had opened due to high temp. Determined that transformer that supplies power to lights was bad (open primary). Removed control panel circuit board and had it repaired/verified good. Faulty control panel was the reason that oven... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Humming sound and burnt smell   Antonio F. • Miami , FL • June 08, 2018

I measured the resistance between the two connectors on the magnetron: should be close to zero ohms and it was. I measured between the same connectors and the metal case: should be mega ohms, it was 15k ohms. That is a bad, partly shorted unit. I also checked the resistance of the thermal cut off, which should be zero but was 10 ohms so I replaced. The HV diode is checked with a 9 V battery (YouTube checking microwave HV diode) and it too was bad. Make sure to take pictures as you disassemble... Read more
