This fixed thermostat protects the appliance by opening the circuit when excessive heat is detected. Replacing a failed or weak thermostat restores reliable over-temperature protection and helps prevent heat-related shutdowns.
- Opens the circuit if the protected area overheats to help prevent damage to components
- Helps with symptoms like unexpected shutdowns during operation or no power after overheating
- Can be the cause when the unit only runs again after cooling down
- Helps maintain safe operating temperatures around heat-sensitive parts
What's included: 1 fixed thermostat Installation notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; some appliances contain high-voltage components
- Access location varies by model; note wire positions before removal and transfer one lead at a time
- Reuse existing mounting hardware; ensure firm terminal connections and correct orientation
- After replacement, confirm proper airflow/venting and normal operation

I measured the resistance between the two connectors on the magnetron: should be close to zero ohms and it was. I measured between the same connectors and the metal case: should be mega ohms, it was 15k ohms. That is a bad, partly shorted unit. I also checked the resistance of the thermal cut off, which should be zero but was 10 ohms so I replaced. The HV diode is checked with a 9 V battery (YouTube checking microwave HV diode) and it too was bad. Make sure to take pictures as you disassemble...
