This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
The video was very helpful. the hardest part is getting off old rusted parts. I had to use a hacksaw to remove one of the old clamps. I had to open the bottom of the washing machine to remove of the other clamp. Putting the new parts on was easy. Getting everything apart was a challenge. Putting the new parts on was an easy 5 minute job. Read more
The Rod and Spring is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This part stabilizes the washer tub, reducing vibrations, and maintaining balance during the wash and spin cycles.
Causes of a bad rod and spring can include wear and tear from frequent use, corrosion from exposure to moisture, and physical damage from overloading the washer or accidental impacts.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Replaced solenoid valve. Repair summary: Turn off H/C water supply, disconnect hoses. Unscrew 3 screws rear of main panel. Slide front panel laterally then pull up to remove. Unscrew 2 screws on solenoid valve part. Disconnect spade electrical connectors and remove defective part. Insert new part and do everything I just said in reverse. It was so easy a drunken monkey could have done it. Read more
The Lid Switch Magnet is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This magnet interacts with the lid switch to signal that the washer lid is closed, allowing the washing cycle to begin.
Causes of a bad lid switch magnet can include wear and tear from frequent use, physical damage, or loss of magnetism over time. A malfunctioning magnet can prevent the washer from detecting a closed lid, thereby interrupting the wash cycle.
Symptoms of a bad Lid Switch Magnet include:
Replaced lid switch and lid magnet. Took just a little longer then 20 minutes as I had to splice in the new lid switch as it wasn't one that was a clip in, it was hard wired in. Read more
The Suspension Rod and Spring Assembly is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This assembly is crucial for maintaining the stability of the washing machine drum during the wash and spin cycles by absorbing vibrations and reducing movement.
Over time, these components can wear out due to frequent use, heavy loads, or unbalanced loads that place excessive strain on the rods and springs. Replacing a faulty suspension rod and spring assembly ensures the washing machine operates smoothly and quietly.
Symptoms of a bad suspension rod and spring assembly include:
I have a 14 year old GE washing machine that had been making a lot of noise while running but had eventually just stopped flat. The agitator and spin cycle would not run. I found this site and made excellent use of all the repair videos to study about my issue. I put in my machine model number and I Immediately was able to start honing in on what my problem could be from website advice about popular repair parts, stories others had shared about their similar machine issues and watching videos,... The Mode Shifter & Shaft Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE washing machines. It is a mechanical component located inside the washer tub that allows for shifting between agitation, spin, and other cycles. The mode shifter and shaft assembly receive input from the control system to precisely change the operational mode at designated points in the cycle. Causes of a bad mode shifter & shaft assembly include worn out or damaged internal gears, stripped or broken shafts, or a loss of integrity in components that restrict smooth shifting between modes. Symptoms of a bad mode shifter & shaft assembly include:
This GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. As this fix is near a complete tear-down of the washing machine, here are a few tips I discovered. 1) the hub nut is difficult to remove and you need a... Read more
This shaft and tube assembly supports and drives the washer's inner basket during the spin cycle. Replacing a worn or bent assembly restores smooth rotation and helps reduce noise, vibration, and basket wobble.
After researching the problem on this site, I realized that the most likely cause was a bad bearing contained in the shaft & tube assembly. Essentially, the tub seal failed & allowed water to travel down the shaft & into the housing containing the bearing. I confirmed this by pulling the front cover off of the unit & noticed some brown water pooled directly under the shaft & tube assembly. I followed the disassembly instructions on this site & it wasn't too bad but did take some time as pretty... Read more
The Funnel Shower Head Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE washers. This assembly includes the shower head and mounting bracket that delivers water directly to the load for optimal cleaning.

Symptoms of a bad shower head assembly include:
This replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
The Youtube videos made the process much easier to tear down the washing machine to replace these parts. These parts were easy to replace once the outside lid and control panel were removed. The initial component replaced was the hot/cold valve. It was leaking causing a continuous drip into the bowl. The Valve is attached to the funnel shower head asm. Best to replace all three parts at the same time or you may also create a leaking funnel shower head hose while replacing the hot/cold... Read more

Symptoms of a bad Rod & Spring Assembly include:
I shopped around a bit - found one retailer that only had 1 shock in stock, another that only stocked the front shocks, etc. There is definitely a difference in the springs between the green colored and white colored shocks! I've torn this washer down before, so I'm fairly familiar with how it's put together. I've seen some of the You-tube videos on replacing this item, and some of the videos show far more disassembly than is required. I only removed the front, top, and controls, and... Read more
The Pulsator Coupling is an OEM replacement part for GE washing machines. It is a component located inside the washer tub that allows for the connection and movement of the agitator. The coupling pulsator works with the drive motor to rotate the agitator back and forth during the wash cycle, helping to thoroughly clean clothes through agitation. Causes of a bad pulsator coupling include wear and tear over time, damage due to impact or foreign objects getting lodged in the mechanism, or deterioration of internal components that restrict proper movement. Symptoms of a bad pulsator coupling include:
I looked up a YouTube video first to know how to take my washing machine apart. It was an Appliance Parts Pros Video. Very helpful! I replaced the mode shifter, water pump, washers, agitator spline, hub nut, tub bearing, tub seal and drive belt. The hub nut DID NOT want to come off. I cut it off with my Dremel and chipped out the beveled segment with a heavy duty screw driver and 3# hammer. Had to be very careful to not damage the hub assembly. I removed the Torx screws and removed the... Read more

Removing and Replacing (R&R) the parts took about 15 minutes. Getting the correct parts took several weeks. It was a severe struggle. Many of you will experience problems trying to get the correct "Lid" for similar GE washing machine models. AppliancePartsPros.com was great: Right price, Arrived quickly in good condition. I got the wrong part. It was not the fault of AppliancePartsPros.com, though. To make a long story short, GE has disseminated incorrect data in parts lists and it... Read more
