Shoulder screw that secures oven components with a precise pivot or spacer point. Replace if missing, worn, or stripped to restore alignment and stability.
I had to remove the oven door, which I learned is made to come off without tools. Then took out the bottom by removing two screws and lifting. Removed the screws attaching the igniter, pulled wires thru back until I could get the connector and disconnect. When the new igniter arrived, I had to change the connector. I cut the one off the old one, and spliced to the new one using solder and shrink tubing. Just reverse the procedure to install. I replaced the screws with new ones. Read more
Secures the center burner orifice on gas ranges for proper alignment and consistent flame. Replace if worn or damaged to restore burner performance.
The top had to be removed but with the unit being 14 years old, galvanic corrosion had seized the screws holding the Burner Heads to the Orifices. I carefully drilled out the heads of the screws until the Burner heads could be pulled free. I removed the two screws that held the Burner control assembly with all the gas valves in place. If you open the top oven, there are two last screws that thread straight up into the top. So 14 screws in all. I ordered 10 new screws along with the Orifices... Read more
Fix gas smell or burner ignition issues with this range top burner valve. Common repair for leaking gas odor when range is off. Moderate difficulty.
I replaced the Igniter switch, two control valves and one holder/orifice (because I couldn't get the screws out and decided to just replace it rather than re-tape it and get new screws). The one thing I forgot was I have propane and the orifice was for natural gas. Fortunately, I was able to swap out the orifice from the old holder. Read more

Replaced the fan unit. This one might be a little tricky for a beginning DIYer, but it is very straight forward like most appliance repairs. In general this applies to all Whirlpool brands. To remove the old fan unit you have to disconnect the power, take the back off, remove the protective cover for the fan and disconnect the wires, taking note of where they came from. Then remove the oven door by lifting it off. Remove oven racks and you should be able to access the mounting cover... Read more
