The door latch is opened by the lever switch, which sits on a plastic peg on the body latch - part AP3186330. This plastic peg had broken. Talking to the dealer, it sounds like a common problem. It's fairly simple to open the cabinet and remove the old part. The manual claims that the big capacitor has a self-discharging circuit, but it's best to briefly short it out with a resistor just to be sure. The microwave suddenly stopped working. No display, no light, nothing. After opening up the microwave I checked the fuse, fire sensor and thermal overload with a continuity tester. They all checked out. With the microwave plugged in and not running, I checked voltage at several points. It was clear that the main control board was getting voltage but it was not turning anything on.
