The door latch is opened by the lever switch, which sits on a plastic peg on the body latch - part AP3186330. This plastic peg had broken. Talking to the dealer, it sounds like a common problem. It's fairly simple to open the cabinet and remove the old part. The manual claims that the big capacitor has a self-discharging circuit, but it's best to briefly short it out with a resistor just to be sure. My husband is the hero in this story. At this time in our lives we weren't looking to purchase another microwave. Color: brown. Each prong measures about 5 inches from the center.
The turntable in the microwave at work stopped turning, so I started taking things apart. Once I realized that it was just the rotating ring piece that was broken I decided to see if I could find the part. Did search for possible answers. Found probable answer and how to fix on YouTube. Searched for parts. Removed microwave from enclosure, removed and tested parts for continuity, then ordered parts. Received parts, installed, then re-installed the microwave. Read more
