I replaced it with the control panel assembly. It was fairly easy to get to with a screw driver and making sure you got all the screws. There are 2 on each side (sometimes you need to pull the oven out a few inches to get at one or both of these). For future reference, take pictures before taking out / off anything and turn off the breaker to the oven as you will be working close to the circuit board with electricity still flowing otherwise (I got a small shock). I purchased the repair kit (which includes the element and the two grill grates). It looks wonderful, just like new, and it works beautifully. The only interesting glitch is that with the new element the vent fan does not automatically come on when turned to the on position. I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more
