This burner cap is an authentic OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is used on gas ranges to distribute the burner's heat evenly. There are various size burners on gas stovetops, with each size having a specific size of burner cap. This cap is for large burners and should not be used on other size burners. Over time, the burner cap may become rusted from being washed or having liquids spilled on it. If the cap is damaged, it should be replaced before cooking on the burner. To start, disconnect the gas and ensure that the grate and burner are completely cool before touching the parts. Remove the cooking grate and set it aside. Lift the burner cap and remove it from the stove. Align the new burner cap up with the grooves on the burner and set it flush. Restore the grate and turn the gas back on to operate the stove. Test the burner to make sure it is seated correctly. This large burner cover is made of heat-tempered metal and is sold individually. It is designed for use on gas stovetops manufactured by General Electric.

We had a repairman look at the range and at first he was searching the regulator was not the problem. He said regulators seldom fail. Finally he determined the regulator was the problem but said he could not get the part through his supplier. In less than a minute I found this part online and ordered it. The repair was a breeze. I did watch a YouTube video but it was very easy. The most important part is to consider the safety issues. Read more
