The Upper Wash Arm is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for spraying water across the upper rack during the wash cycle to effectively clean dishes. It measures approximately 7.5 inches long by 1.37 inches wide.
Causes of a bad upper wash arm can include mineral or lime scale buildup that clogs the spray nozzles, or damage to the arm itself such as cracks or breaks that compromise its spraying ability.
Symptoms of a bad upper wash arm include:
- Inadequate cleaning of upper rack dishes
- Dirty dishes after a cycle
- Clogged or blocked spray nozzles
- Visible damage or wear to the arm
This OEM replacement wash arm from Whirlpool is compatible with KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models as well.

The top spray arm in my kitchenaid kuds01flss6 diswhasher fell off into the tub Russ N. • Baton Rouge , LA • December 04, 2014
The spray arm itself was fine. The problem was with the plastic parts that held it in place. I had to order an entire replacement spray arm assembly to get the small plastic pin and collar I needed. It took a flashlight and some poking around, but I discovered that the arm is held in place by a small plastic pin that drops into place from above. Here's the fix: Gently bend down the flat plastic tube that carries water to the arm so you can reach the pin and pull it up and out, then drop the...

The Whirlpool push on retainer nut is an OEM replacement part responsible for securing the heating element in the dishwasher. It is located in the base of the dishwasher's tub to hold the heating element firmly in place. The push-on retainer nut keeps the heating element securely connected to the dishwasher's electrical system while allowing for easy removal and replacement when necessary.
Over time, push on retainer nuts can become loose, worn out, or damaged due to regular use, vibrations, or accidental mishandling. If a retainer nut fails, it can lead to parts becoming unstable or disconnected.
Symptoms of a bad push on retainer nut include:
- Loose or unstable dishwasher components
- Parts falling off or becoming misaligned
- Unusual noises during the wash cycle
- Difficulty in securing components within the dishwasher
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models

Our dishwasher would not start. Rory D. • Fairfield , CA • May 18, 2020
A bit of searching on the internet narrowed the problem down to either the heating element or the control board. As I am not much of a diagnostician I decided to replace both. Along this same line, I would never have attempted these repairs if it hadn't been for the clear, easy to understand repair videos provided for each part. Further, my decision to do my own repairs was made easier because the prices of the parts was so reasonable.
I took my time, reviewed the videos and replaced the...

Dishwasher drain pump not working Steve E. • Tampa , FL • January 14, 2015
When the wife told me the dishwasher was leaving water in the bottom of the tub I hoped it'd be that the filter was just clogged. Nope. We usually clean our dishes before cleaning them which always makes me laugh but the drain was clear after 9 years of use, so I figured it was the pump. This was a $200 minimum for the appliance guy to replace, so I thought I'd try and do it myself.
Job wasn't too bad. Found a youtube video from another machine than mine which I hoped would help.. these...

Lights on control panel but would not start William H. • Mount Pleasant , SC • June 13, 2015
Replaced control panel and ribbon cable. Worked for half a cycle and then power went dead. Further trouble shooting led me to possible fuse failure since I had power to fuse but not to door switch. Replaced fuse and now working perfectly. I'm sure fuse had nothing to do with replacing other parts. It just happened to go bad at that time

Bad heater element in dishwasher Randy R. • North Bend , WA • February 08, 2015
Replaced element, but new one had higher current rating requiring changeout of control circuit board making price much higher than for element alone. Note that this was with every parts dealer for this machine. Changing circuit board was easy, am former techie, hard part was getting access to rear of dishwasher. Due to design of kitchen I ended up removing back of peninsula cabinet instead of pulling machine out. Really hard part was getting my 66 year old knees to cooperate. Did have a small...
