The Ice Dispenser Lever is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators with built-in ice dispensers. Located inside the ice and water compartment, the lever is responsible for releasing cubed or crushed ice when engaged. Symptoms of a bad ice dispenser lever include:
Causes of a bad lever can be worn gears or connector linkages inside the ice dispensing mechanism from repeated use over time. This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, and select Kenmore fridge models.
I replaced the Ice Dispenser Lever. Since the replacement part is only available in white and my fridge is bone, I replaced also the Water Dispenser Lever, so it looks much better. I followed the instructions in the video, which were very useful and very well done. My problem was that the refrigerator is a KitchenAid built-in, while the instructions were for a Whirlpool, so the removal of the faceplate was quite different from what was shown in the video and more difficult. Piece of cake. Literally no hardware required. Just looked at the diagram provided for my fridge. The parts fit perfectly. The replacement clip was inexpensive. The 2 bars I needed I thought were very expensive. But I needed them so I could store my condiments- to free up space on my shelves. But - I did it all by myself. No man- no tools. :) Read more

20-year-old RIM Hi-start ice maker. Scanned the internet and found videos on how to test the unit using a jumper wire. Results of test consistent with a ‘dead’ ice-maker. Found replacement online and ordered. The order came within two days. Reviewed other YouTube videos on how to remove the shelf and original unit. Then I replaced. I tested the new unit with a jumper wire and I was good to go. Read more

After watching a video on the AppliancePartsPros.com site, I decided that it was the Valve-Intake that had to be the issue. So I simply unplugged everything as suggested, and replaced the part. I plugged everything back in, made sure the water dispenser in the front door worked, and then turned on the ice maker. Within 5 minutes, the ice maker went through it's rotation, and this time it filled the ice trace. Yay! Read more
