The installation of the new condenser motor was as the video described; there were no surprises. I noted the difference in operation immediately, the fan was moving at a higher rate of speed in a smoother motion. The new motor had far less shaft end play and seems to move more air across the condenser coil than the original motor. All in all, this was a relatively easy repair that solved a real refrigerator performance problem; the unit now cycles less often and generates less compressor heat. Read more

This defrost heater melts frost and ice buildup on the evaporator so a frost-free refrigerator can complete its automatic defrost cycle and maintain normal cooling. Designed to replace a failed evaporator heater and restore proper defrost operation. What it does:
I removed the lower sheet metal panel at the base of the freezer section and then used a heat gun to melt off all the built up ice, which was blocking air flow to the refrigerator side. I then unplugged the old heating element at each end and "very gingerly" pulled out the evaporator coil a few inches so that I could removed the old heating element. Installed the new heating element and then reattached everything and fridge now works great. Read more

Removed water catcher, then 4 screws in water/ice vault in door, then removed screws on door side (5) top (2) and bottom (2). Removed stainless door skin. Removed 4 hex head bolts in ice/water vault (containing pads) and 4 bolts on the module immediately above the vault. Pulled the vault and module above out part way to unplug one cable. Then laid on table to unplug pads. From back, each pad has a small indent preventing the pad from being pushed up and removed. Push the small indent with a... Read more
