I removed the front cover and saw water a rusted out drum cover clamp. Water gushed out at this point when i operated the machine. I ordered a new clamp and seal from Appliance Parts Pros, which arrived quickly. I wire-brushed the drum and it's cover clean, in the sealing area and installed the new seal and clamp. NOTE do not set the cover down all the way down, or the tub will not "spin". Leave 3/8- 1/2" clearance between the top of the tub and the upper cover. I chose to fix my old... Read more

I took the cover off the transmission and determined that the only possible knocking had to be coming from the yoke. I ordered a new yoke and all the tub seals needed to put it back together like new. I also ordered a new drive pulley bearing because this bearing is always turning whenever the washer is used. This genuine OEM part is an outer tub for washers. The outer tub is the main tub where clothes are set to wash. If the tub is no longer spinning properly or is making a loud noise as it rubs against the washer, it will need to be replaced. Thankfully, replacing this part is a relatively simple process.To replace the outer tub, start by making sure the washer is unplugged. After that, remove the front panel of the washer. Once removed, lift up the top panel so that it is no longer covering the outer tub. Next, locate the mounting bolts that secure the tub and unthread them using a socket wrench. Once removed, lift the tub out from the washer. Replace with the new tub and secure the mounting bolts. Reinstall the front panel and plug the washer back in. This replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpools, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand washers.
The repair sounds easy, doesn't it? It would have been, except that I actually had to do laundry while waiting for the part to arrive. So, I was using a pair of channel locks to turn the exposed bolt/post sticking out in order to turn the washing machine on. In doing so, I actually crushed part of the thread on the bolt, so the starter knob wouldn't screw on! In order to screw on the new starter knob, I had to buy a special nut which rethreaded the bolt. The lid shut-off switch is located behind the lid How About That. I order the plastic ball the hold the lid in place plus the lid shut off switch. I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com has on how to replace the lid and the plastic balls. I removed the lid to get to the two philips head screws to remove that part of the shut-off switch. I took the new switch out of the package and compared it to the old switch.
