Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would not fill agitate or spin dryer worked fine   Christopher H. • San Diego , CA • February 11, 2016

After some research and some testing with a multimeter, it turned out the lid check switch was bad. Instead of purchasing the entire switch assembly, I purchased just the switch that was bad. The lid switch assembly is easy to disassemble, but requires removing the spring loaded lever to remove the lid cover switch. This is wall current, so make sure you unplug! Installed, test, and everything... still didn't work. When the switch fails it takes the fuse out with it. Since I hadn't ordered... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Maytag dryer making rattling noise with or without load in drum   Gene H. • Overland Park , KS • April 15, 2015

Unplugged line cord. Removed two phillips screws close to bottom in front and lifted at 30º angle to release top clips on front panel, rotated it aside so as to not disturb door switch wires. Turned drum by hand. Located rattle emanating from blower housing. Removed lint screen and holder with phillips and 1/4" nutdriver. Removed blower housing cover with 1/4" and 5/16" nut driver. Blower wheel's hub was shattered around motor shaft. Ordered new one. Cleaned out lint buildup. Took off... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The existing lens was crazed and in need of replacement   Lewis S. • Palo Alto , CA • July 31, 2016

I removed the single screw that held the existing lens in place and removed the lens. I then used an awl to properly line up the new lens in place, since it is in an inconvenient spot inside the dryer drum. Then I taped the lens in place temporarily with blue tape, removed the awl and re-installed the screw and tightened it securely. I finished the job by removing the blue tape. More seriously, over the years I've used appliance parts pros to order repair parts for my dishwasher, my... Read more

Just opened up wire connections on all three (after taking pictures, since schematic was skewed) solenoid could and did a continuity check as one of them came back negative and just replaced it...all is working again. Read more
