I replaced defrost timer (which I am glad I did because of wear on the points) but that did not cure the problem. So after checking other components, I found that the temperature control was the culprit. No problem, I will simply order part # 2162521100. Well Frigidaire decided to obsolete that part and "Has not provided an approved substitute". So, I have to scrap this freezer and pay $800 to $900 for a new one? Not! Replace the lock assembly: Open the lid and remove four philips screws from underneath the gasket. Carefully and patiently remove all of the gasket clips, first from the left and right sides then remove all but two from the top so when the final one comes out the panel and gasket can come towards you and then set gently in the top of the freezer. Having used AppliancePartsPros.com once before, I jumped on the retailer's proposal to knock 10% off the freezer price if I accepted the delivery with the broken grill. I turned on my computer, looked up the part, ordered it, and there it was 3 or 4 days later at my door. Two minutes later, the new grill was securely screwed to my freezer and I even saved a few dollars on the deal, even if I charged for my own time! Read more
Simply took out old that was falling apart and pushed in the new one. Because it was packaged bent in two places, it didn't fit as snugly in one section as it should, the bend wouldn't totally straighten, but hoping it's OK. Read more
Pulled bottom kick panel off, removed the one screw that held the light bracket on, unplugged the light connection, had to file a small burr off the bracket and pushed the light into the slot, reconnected the push on connector, replaced the screw for the bracket, replaced the kick panel, and marveled at my accomplishment.
