Replaced the door assembly Before taking the door off the washer I painted the hinges with a little finger nail polish to enable the hinges to be replaced correctly. Used petroleum jelly on the outside of the vent grommet (18) so it could easily be slipped on to the door liner. Also used the petroleum jelly on the bottom of the vent tube (17) to fit into the vent grommet. A plumbing supply store found the part on the internet with a Whirlpool part #. I found that number on the website of another parts supplier (Appliance Zone) but it did not have a picture of the part. It was called a gas connector, and I ordered the part. It arrived quickly, but the name on the parts bag was "elbow". It was only the elbow. I couldn't believe that someone would sell half of a union.
