After hunting the web for info on causes for this problem and finding only vague information, I found Appliance Pros website. By this time, i had narrowed the problem to either the drive hub or the Control board, which is about $150 difference in cost between the two!! I used the site's info on how to run the automatic diagnostics test. This gave me a C8 failure (drum wouldn't spin). I followed the directions for the manual motor tests and everything passed. Motor shield bumper kit includes 4 bumpers. When replacing this part, if you see that your motor stator is broken, search by your model number to make sure you get the right stator for your model.

The new control panel did the trick, and was the elusive 10-minute job. Just 3 screws to open the panel, disconnect the old, connect the new, close it up, and we were back in business. Frustrating to need a repair since the machine is not very old. But at least it was easy to complete. Read more
