Microwave not heating food? A faulty high voltage diode disrupts power conversion. Common DIY repair requiring discharge safety and multimeter testing.
After dismounting the unit from its wall-hanging bracket, the most tedious part of the repair was removing over a dozen screws holding the cover in place from the top, bottom, and both sides. Fortunately, I had placed the unit on a bench that allowed me to slide the unit allowing access to the screws on the bottom edges of the unit. Always discharge the capacitor before continuing to work on the unit by discharging the capacitor by shorting the contact without the diode to ground. Access to the... Read more
Fix a microwave that won't start or runs with the door open. This door interlock switch is a common DIY repair taking 15-30 minutes with basic tools.
Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. Appliance parts pros was the only company that had the same model number I was looking for (SZW-V16-FD-63). I ordered the relay switch, 2 days later it arrived (regular... Read more
Fix a microwave that runs but won't heat or won't start when door closes. This door switch is a common fix—most DIYers replace it in 15 minutes.
Microwave won't turn on or has no power? A blown fuse is often the cause. This safety component protects against electrical surges and short circuits.
I have a Jenn-Air microwave that didn't turn on and had no lights. It just stopped working completely. I unplugged the unit and had to remove the rear cover using a *security screw kit* that prevents people from opening the rear panel. Once opened, I removed the fuse and testing it with an OHM reader to determine that the fuse went bad. But I also had to determine why the fuse blew and noticed a sticky oily substance under the Capacitor. I used a rubber glove and needle nose pliers to... Read more

Replacement door lever for microwave ovens. Attaches to door assembly for smooth opening and closing. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing.
Roller guide assembly installs on the microwave turntable support system. Replace if the guide is cracked, broken, or worn, preventing smooth rotation.
Microwave has no power or won't turn on? This fuse cartridge protects against electrical overload. Requires removing outer cover to access and replace.
Removed microwave from the built in cabinet (probably the hardest part) and took off top cover (screws on side and back). Had previously blown the power fuse 2 times in this microwave, so I checked the fuse first using an ohmmeter. This time fuse was good. Traced the power wires around to top side of microwave and saw the overheat "therm" switch. I believe the therm is installed there as a safety feature to open the power circuit to the microwave in case something was to overheat for any... Read more

Fix a microwave that's loud or not heating with this high voltage rectifier diode. Moderately difficult repair requiring oven removal and realignment.
Ordered the top 2 likely most parts causing the problem based on troubleshooting diagnostics from AppliancePartsPros and other on-line websites (magnetron & diode/rectifier). Received parts a bit earlier than estimated delivery and installed. Most difficult part of the process was removing oven from over-range mounting location. Second difficulty was achieving alignment/repositioning outer skin surrounding the oven after parts installation. Both problems were satisfied by having more available... Read more

Microwave blows fuse when you press start? A failed high voltage capacitor is often the cause. Moderate DIY repair that restores your microwave's function.
Downloaded service manual, got over my fear of getting shocked. Found Samsung put bleed resistors in capacitor, jumped with screwdriver to confirm as per service manual. Tested diode, found a large voltage drop with 9v battery. Capacitor test failed. Called into APP to confirm, got some great advice. Ordered cap and diode, arrived next day, installed and corrected problem. This micro has conv and is built into my motorhome, I had few options, none really, but to fix and no one wanted to...
