I found the manufacturers parts drawing and purchased the parts that were needed.The previous home owner had not only removed from he parts but he had also reversed the direction of the dish rack. The only way I was able to repair it was to figure out how it must function,the rest was easy. Read more
Turned off the water supply. Removed the two screws at the top of the dishwasher. Pulled it out and removed the plug for power. Noticed the drain hose was split causing the problem. Had to dry the whole area before reinstalling. This took a couple days. Replaced the hose with a new one. Ordered the part online on Tuesday and received it Thursday at 9:00 am. Replaced The conduit Carrier Mid, Conduit Spray Arm Mid and the Middle Spray Arm Assembly. All in less than 1/2 hour. Although, I think the main problem was the Conduit Carrier Mid which was distorted. By the way, I was surprised that I received my parts the very next day after I ordered them. Read more
This was not an obvious source of a leak. The Tower Heater Assembly Nut developed a crack over time due to heat exposure. So the leak was gradual slowly getting worse over time. It was a hairline crack that ran down one of the edges of the nut making it hard to see. In talking to a pro he said it isn't a common problem. Found a service manual that is close enough to my GE dishwasher. Service Manual for GE Dishwasher-EDW4000 was found on the following webpage. http://www.applianceaid.com/pdf/serv-man-EDW4000.pdf Gives enough information to test out the dishwasher. Read it, check out Factory Test Mode. GE should have given this out as a normal User Manual. The usual user manual lack anything to help troubleshoot a problem. Read more
