Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker would not dispense ice and chute/container would frost over   Theo S. • Tallahassee , FL • October 01, 2014

When diagnosing the problem, I discovered that the ice door was not properly sealing and that the solenoid had appeared to rust/corrode forcing the door open. I replaced most of the ice dispenser internals (solenoid, crank, door, and spring) following the video. The door will now open when dispensing ice (which it does!), and will oddly stay open for a few seconds once I am finished, but does seal properly and the chute/container no longer frosts over. Condenser fan stopped on my big 2003 Monogram 4 foot wide ZIS480D Refrigerator. It is top mounted. The fridge had to be rolled out. 20 screws removed and the top sheet metal to get at the condenser. That was the only way to get at it. Works like new now. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The pump to the water dispenser in the door of my refrigerator developed a leak   Danny J. • Maple Valley , WA • May 05, 2014

First, I had to remove the cover plate on the back of the refrigerator. Then I unscrewed the water inlet valve from the rest of the assembly. I then unplugged the electrical contacts by pulling them apart. There are two fittings on the valve. One has a nut on it. That one just needs the nut unscrewed, after which the pex tubing can be pulled out. The other one has a pex connection. This one can be separated by simultaneously pushing in on the fitting neck while pulling the pex tubing out. On... Read more

Auger Drive (Ice Dispenser)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR02X11534

This ice dispenser auger drive mounts on the dispenser motor shaft and engages the ice bucket auger. Replacing a worn or stripped drive restores the connection so your refrigerator can move ice smoothly to the chute.

  • Couples the dispenser motor to the ice-bin auger to rotate and move ice toward the chute
  • On models with crushers, also drives the crushing mechanism
  • Worn or rounded splines can cause little or no ice dispensing even though the motor runs
  • May produce clicking/grinding noises from the door during dispense
  • Visible cracking or play at the coupling indicates replacement is needed
What's included: 1 auger drive Installation notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator and shut off water before servicing
  • Remove the ice bin to access the dispenser motor shaft in the freezer door
  • Note the orientation; remove the old drive and seat the new drive fully on the shaft, transferring any original hardware if present
  • Reinstall the ice bin, restore power, and test ice dispense

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Driver auger was spinning freely on motor shaft (threads were stripped)   John K. • Tucson , AZ • November 28, 2016

The auger in ice bucket was frozen and locked in place (some how liquid water must have spilled inside and froze the shaft and bushing). When the motor was activated to deliver ice, the jam caused the motor shaft to strip the threads. With the threads stripped, there is no way (that I could find) to get the drive auger off of the shaft (btw, it is left-hand threaded). Apparently the Drive Auger is made of stainless steel - a harder metal then the motor shaft. To repair it, I removed the... Read more

Icemaker Water Supply Line
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR17X11625

Water line from water valve up to icemaker fill tube.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The plastic tube from the valve to the ice maker was broken   Alan K. • Leesburg , VA • May 16, 2015

Thanks to the AppliancePartsPro, I ordered it online and received it quickly. I even used the step by step directions on how to replace the tube from the AppliancePartsPro website. Just be very careful and review the instructions first. Couple of important things: 1. Take a picture of the existing wiring and tubes before you take them apart. 2. *if* you remove the wires ( red and white plugs) from the valve, make sure you plug them back in correctly. 3. Do not pull or push the tubes hard. Use... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Yes ice was not coming out of the dispenser   Jason S. • Goose Creek , SC • December 02, 2014

I replaced the solenoid, door, spring and bucket. The bucket cracked from ice freezing inside it. Ice froze inside the bucket because the solenoid stopped pulling the door closed which allowed hot humid air into the freezer. While I was in there I replaced the dispenser door, spring and crank because they are cheap and the old ones were moldy. The mold is most likely from the door not closing and causing condensation on the parts as well. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leak in top of water tank   Merle M. • Valley Center , CA • August 23, 2014

Installing the tank went quickly. Removed the water filter from the upper compartment to stop water flow to the tank. Had to remove the two lower drawers (they tilt out of their sliding frames). There is a glass shelf that should be pulled out - it slides out via two notches in the front frame. The water tank is behind a white metal cover held by 4 screws.
