First take the oven out of the wall,it is a built in unit. Remove the sheatmetal to get at the inner works. Figure out what what it is doing and why. Traced the problem to a relay on the pc board. While trying to remove rhe pc board to replace the $4. relay I broke the nonrepairable ribon cable between it and the control panel. After googling this problem and realizing a built in microwave/oven would be at least 1500 dollars to repair, I decided to try to replace the wave guide cover. This is where the sparks seemed to be coming from. Taking the old one out was easy, it just popped out using a knife. Within seconds of putting the new one in, I was able to verify this was the problem with the sparking. So an easy fix with a $6 part! Read more
GE JKP90DP1BB over oven microwave would not power up after overcooking by a tenant. Removed control panel with 2 screws to access and check the main power ceramic fuse, thermal fuse, and top primary Interlock Switch, middle Monitor switch, bottom Secondary interlock relay. I replaced the main Control Board without much difficulty and it solved my Microwave problem and then I replaced the Control Board for the Electric Oven and it solved my dim light problem. I had quite a bit of difficulty making the two nylon electric coupling connections for the lower electric oven but was finally able to master the disconnect / connection problem.
