Fix uneven cooling or defrost issues with a new temperature sensor. Most DIYers complete this repair in under an hour with basic tools and our video.
I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling but freezer works? A failed evaporator fan motor stops cold air circulation. Common DIY repair with video guide available.
Shut off power in the panel box - easier than getting at the plug behind the unit. Had to take out the lower full-width drawer and the two crispers next. Removed two screws on the shelf above the wide drawer and removed the two shelf parts. Next was removing a screw from each wide drawer support. Then I pulled the support forward about an inch to disengage it from a post towards the back. There is a wiring connection in the right-hand support you will need to disconnect. Next, I removed a... Interior light not working when door opens? This light switch controls refrigerator illumination. DIY-friendly install takes 30-45 minutes with video.
I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as... Read more

Seals the refrigerator fresh food compartment door to maintain temperature and prevent warm air entry. Replace if torn, cracked, or loose. Verify fit.
The fix went great. I replaced the right-side door switch and it works great. The switch came as a three prong, and the original was a two prong. I matched the two prong wires with/on where they go on the switch, and it worked great. Next is the left door gasket. I am letting the new door gasket lay flat for a few days to see if the folded kinks/creases will relax out. They do instruct to use very hot water to get the folded shipping kinks out of it and will try that as a last resort. Read more

First let me say that we have been having a warm ff section since this refrigerator GE Mod GFE27GGDEWW since new. It was purchased in July of 2014, three repair under warranty,-thermistor,mother board, and a shrug of the shoulders, nothing wrong. the ff fan started making noise last week, and after doing some research saw that GE has a service bulletin REF03-18 updating the fan to WR60X29099. the install went well. new fan is quiet, seems to have more flow, but the ff section is still warm.The...
