Causes of a bad screw can include stripping from over-tightening, corrosion from exposure to moisture, or general wear and tear over time.
Symptoms of a bad handle screw include:
I ordered the support. Once we removed the old one, we noticed that the top support was also cracked and so we decided to replace that one as well before it broke off completely. Using a putty knife, I removed the black liner around the inside of the door that exposed the microwave inside the glass. I used a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 4 screws that held the inside glass to the outer door. This exposed the 2 screws that held the handle onto the door. I removed the screws, replaced the... The Door Latch is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It securely holds the door shut during cooking cycles to contain heat, prevent leaks, and keep small children from accessing the cooking cavity.
Symptoms of a bad door latch include:
Causes of a bad door latch are typically wear over time from repeated use. Exposure to steam and heating elements can also degrade plastic and metal components. An improperly closing door presents potential safety issues by allowing excessive heat to escape.
This genuine GE replacement part is compatible with some Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore models as well.
Noted wear on the door latch and the latch board. Before it totally failed you could push on the door to make it operate. After disassembly I checked the three micro-switches, which checked good. I replaced the door latch easily with the help of a video, then replaced the latch board. Be sure to use the little toggle on the replaced door latch on the new latch. I had to adjust the position of the latch board to make the microwave operate properly. Read more
This is a fuse that is used on microwaves. This fuse shuts off the microwave if there happens to be a power surge. This helps prevent damage to the microwave unit and also prevents fires from being started from the power surge. Be sure to unplug the microwave from its power source prior to attempting the replacement of the fuse. The process to replace the fuse is relatively easy and can be completed in about 30 to 60 minutes time.A new fuse may be needed if the microwave will no longer turn on. If the fuse has been blown, it will show scorch marks, and the filament inside will be melted. This fuse is a genuine General Electric part and is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is sold individually. This specific fuse is compatible with microwaves that are manufactured by the General Electric brand.
