This replacement part is an ice auger blade, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. This was a very easy repair, the on-line video at AppliancePartsPros.com was helpful. The Helix was spinning freely (meaning, the Auger Blade was not holding it in place on the Auger). Pulling the assembly apart was a snap, and very logical (the video is perfect if you get lost). The family is now enjoying both crushed and cubed ice - and the redesign of the Auger Blade seems to prevent clogging in the ice shoot. Read more

At first, because there was not any visible means of attaching the handle either on the front or inside of the refrigerator door, I thought the door may need to be replaced. Each refrigerator typically has two handle bars which allow the user to open and closed the doors effectively and efficiently. A new handle bar might be needed if the current one is unable to stay connected to the door of the appliance.
