This replacement part is an ice dispenser deflector, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. Ice dispenser deflectors are found inside of the ice-making assembly and are an important part of many freezers. The ice dispenser deflector allows the ice to come down from the tray into the dispensing area. A new ice dispenser deflector might be needed if the current one has become too brittle and has even cracked or broken. Be sure that the refrigerator is completely powered off before starting this repair. The user must have access to the ice maker assembly and will need common household tools like a screwdriver and pliers. The user might also need working gloves as some parts in and around the assembly have sharp edges or blades.Note that this part is sold individually. I replaced the door stop. Fortunately, I did NOT follow the advice on your Questions and Answers discussion and remove the door to do this: "You will need to remove the door hinge cover and hinge from the top of the door. Then lift and remove the door from the refrigerator. Lay the door on a soft surface and remove the screws holding the door stop WR2X9302 in place. Reinstall in reverse order." The two screws are fairly easy to remove with a socket wrench with the door in place. Read more
Found that piece of auger was broken up front. Ordered auger and several other parts associated with ice maker just to be sure. Also replaced condenser motor which was making noise. Read more

Harness to corset & shifter
Determined from the schematic on the inside of the cover of the icemaker that the likely problem was the "stop" micro switch.... Took the whole thing apart and confirmed the switch was defective. Replaced it with a standard DPDT switch - for a temporary fix. Went on line to find replacement. Bought it from APP Parts Pros. replaced DPDT switch with micro.. all is well.... saved at least $150 by not having a repair person come to the house - felling good about this..... Read more

This was a very easy repair, the on-line video at AppliancePartsPros.com was helpful. The Helix was spinning freely (meaning, the Auger Blade was not holding it in place on the Auger). Pulling the assembly apart was a snap, and very logical (the video is perfect if you get lost). The family is now enjoying both crushed and cubed ice - and the redesign of the Auger Blade seems to prevent clogging in the ice shoot. Read more
