Seal tape creates a flexible barrier around your microwave door to prevent air and moisture leaks. Replace worn, cracked, or missing sealing strips.
Dis-assembled the door(not easy), thoroughly cleaned the glass and screen, re-assembled the door and replaced the seal tape. Looks good. Would look better if the seal tape hadn't come in with some creases in it. But it is acceptable. Read more
Microwave won't power up or shuts off after seconds? Failed thermostats cause intermittent operation. Test for continuity—straightforward repair.
Removed OTR microwave. Checked the thermostat switches while power was applied with a DVM. Noticed that when a certain set of wires was moved the slightest bit the microwave would power up. Traced the wires to the thermostat switch for the cavity. Noticed that where one (of two) Faston terminals was crimped to the thermostat switch was black. (should be copper colored). This was an expensive Maytag over the stove type unit. Removal was easy, just two screws allow it to tip forward and then lift off the wall bracket. 14 screws around the outer shell and it lifts off to expose everything. Basic meter checks show the capacitor, diode, transformer, fuses all good.
