The Lid Lock Switch is an OEM part for Frigidaire washing machines. This switch is responsible for ensuring the lid is securely locked during the wash and spin cycles, preventing the lid from being opened and ensuring safe operation of the machine.
Causes of a bad lid lock switch can include electrical failures, wear and tear from frequent use, or damage due to impact or mishandling.
Symptoms of a bad lid lock switch include:
- The washing machine not starting or stopping mid-cycle
- The lid not locking or unlocking as expected
- Error codes related to the lid lock mechanism
- Unusual noises during the wash or spin cycles
This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

1) Ordered part.
2) Removed front panel by loosening the two screws at the bottom front.
3) Removed old Safety Switch/Lid Lock by disconnecting wires (plug and 2 female disconnects)
4) Reconnected all wires and reinstalled switch.
5) Replaced front panel.
6) Tested Unit.
7) FYI - I found that the locking mechanism stays locked until cycle completely finishes on its own. DO NOT force the cycle to end. Lid will NOT unlock.
