The Freezer Defrost Heater is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It plays a crucial role in the defrost system by melting any frost or ice buildup on the evaporator coils. This helps maintain the efficiency of the cooling system and ensures the freezer operates properly.
Over time, the defrost heater can wear out or fail due to continuous heating and cooling cycles, electrical issues, or physical damage. Causes of a bad defrost heater include burnouts, electrical faults, and accumulation of frost that hinders its functionality.
Symptoms of a bad freezer defrost heater include:
- Excessive frost buildup in the freezer
- The freezer not maintaining the set temperature
- The refrigerator running continuously or cycling more frequently
- Water leaks inside the freezer from melting ice
This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.
