Barry J Las Vegas , NV April 11, 2014 Gas oven suddenly stopped working I watched a video by AppliancePartPros, and it showed the exact problem that I was having as well as what part that I would need for the repair. So I ordered the part which was and oven igniter, that also turned out to be the exact replacement for my old igniter. The part came in the mail in a about 3 days and I was able to install it myself in about 20 minutes give or take, with simple hand tools, then I did a quick test and everything worked fine. Timothy G Lumberton , NJ December 21, 2014 Appliance: Model OVEN WHIRLPOOL, SUPER CAPCITY 465 (NATURAL GAS) Igniter was lighting but gas wouldn't ignite Igniter was lighting but gas wouldn't ignite. I would see the igniter light up and smell some gas, but the flame would not light. After looking at some websites, it seemed that the igniter was weak and wouldn't cause ignition, even though it was glowing. Since the part numbers were the same, I switched the broiler and the oven igniters. The oven began working and the broiler wouldn't light. So, I ordered the new part (igniter) and replaced the broken one. I had to pull the oven away from the wall, remove the back panels and take out the mounting screws for the igniter(s) inside the oven. The broiler igniter was easy to reach and replace and the oven igniter was a bit harder to reach and replace. The oven igniter had to be disconnected at the bottom of the oven. It can be reached from the bottom rear opening. Read More... 15 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers, Wrench Set
Eric H Las Vegas , NV June 28, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Range SF315PEPQ4 The ignitor wasn't pulling enough amperage to trigger the gas to activate and thus wasn't heating up enough either I pulled out the stove, unplugged it, and turned the gas valve off. Then I took the back cover off the electrical wiring and disconnected the ignitor (just a simple two wire plug connector). I fed the plug into the stove cavity, then took out the bottom drawer from the front of the stove to access the ignitor area. Unscrewed two screws to take the old ignitor off, put the new one on, fed the wire to the back, plugged it back in, put the electrical cover back on. Then plugged it back in, turned the gas valve on, and tested the stove. Everything worked great.
