How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6037202 / W10918546 Oven Igniter

After searching for causes on internet I came across the igniter being the issue. I ordered the part from your website. finding the part was very simple. I changed the igniter and my problem is solved. your website was very helpful and I will recommend you guys to my friends. Thanks for the help. 

I looked and had taken some of the covers off the area of the igniter, figured I could do it on my own to replace it. Checked out some do it yourself videos(easy enough). Wrote the ID parts down and looked up the company (Whirlpool). 24 hours later part arrived and 20 minutes later had it working. I am happy with the service on ordering and receiving Stanley M. 

Igniter was lighting but gas wouldn't ignite. I would see the igniter light up and smell some gas, but the flame would not light. After looking at some websites, it seemed that the igniter was weak and wouldn't cause ignition, even though it was glowing. Since the part numbers were the same, I switched the broiler and the oven igniters. The oven began working and the broiler wouldn't light. So, I ordered the new part (igniter) and replaced the broken one. I had to pull the oven away from the wall, remove the back panels and take out the mounting screws for the igniter(s) inside the oven. The broiler igniter was easy to reach and replace and the oven igniter was a bit harder to reach and replace. The oven igniter had to be disconnected at the bottom of the oven. It can be reached from the bottom rear opening. 

I pulled out the stove, unplugged it, and turned the gas valve off. Then I took the back cover off the electrical wiring and disconnected the ignitor (just a simple two wire plug connector). I fed the plug into the stove cavity, then took out the bottom drawer from the front of the stove to access the ignitor area. Unscrewed two screws to take the old ignitor off, put the new one on, fed the wire to the back, plugged it back in, put the electrical cover back on. Then plugged it back in, turned the gas valve on, and tested the stove. Everything worked great. 

We entered the problem on the internet and came across AppliancePartsPros.com. From there we watched a video on replacing the igniter which we believed was the problem. We ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros and it arrived the next day! Two days later we replaced the igniter. It took about 20 minutes and the oven was working correctly once again! We really appreciate your helpful website and will probably be using it many times in the future! 

After reading a lot of similar posts on this website, I decided to chance it and purchase the oven igniter for my Whirlpool as a fairly inexpensive first step to repair. APP had the appropriate part (it's important to go by the model number on the actual oven plate, not the manual. Mine were different from each other) and mailed it quickly. I had already viewed the excellent repair video, so as soon as it arrived, I replaced the part. SO SIMPLE! Maybe 15 minutes. And it worked! My temperature gauge is off by a uniform 10 degrees (use an oven thermometer to check) and I may replace the temperature sensor eventually (another cheap and easy repair), but I'm good for now. The same breakdown occurred for 3 other friends and neighbors, all of whom felt they had to buy a new oven for hundreds of $. Anyone can make this repair. Be sure to watch the video. 

Our oven went out because of a power failure while the oven was on. I purchased an ignitor from a local repair place but it still would not work. We were told it could be the control panel. We ordered another ignitor just in case and also the control panel. We put both parts in, turned on the gas and electric and the oven came right on, I am a very happy wife. This company is great, they are not only fast on shipping, there customer service is very concerned about your identify when you order by credit card. I called as requested to let them know that it was, in fact, me that ordered it and the verified my address and credit card. I will definitely do business with them in the future when I need parts for my appliances. Thank you for your great service. 

The necessary part arrived by FedEx in a few days. It installed easily and now I have a working oven! 

I took the lower drawer out so I could get to the igniter. I took the two screws out with a 5/16 ratchet wrench, unplugged the old one and reverse order back with the old one. The part was a perfect match to the old one. The part arrived 2 days later, just as they said it would. I was very happy with this company. Fair price, and easy checkout. I would recommend it to everyone that is fixing something themselves. I saved a fair amount of money compared to buying directly from Whirlpool (even on this simple/small part) and the website was more user friendly. 

First I replaced the oven igniter which took about 10 minutes, then the front out side glass was replaced, done.
