Bruce L Waynesville , NC August 19, 2014 Turntable not turning and a grinding noise when it ran The motor needed changed. There were 7 small screws that needed to be removed to swing the panel down and reveal the motor. I unplugged the electrical to the motor and then there were 2 small screws to remove the motor. Replaced the motor, plugged the power to it and replaced the panel with the 7 screws. The entire job took less than 10 minutes and works great. John R Carrollton , GA October 11, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Free Standing Microwave JVM1861SD002 Turntable turns but makes a grinding noise Replaced the drive motor on my GE above stove microwave. Took about 7 or 8 minutes. Works great with no noise now. Really a bad design on GE's part. Moisture from boiling anything on the range top is the issue with the motor going bad.
