Matt for Model Number 587.14022200A Okay, I wish I could reply to your replies, but all I can do is post again. I have a 2nd used machine here that is 2 years newer than the 587 model we are discussing here (machine A), and different branding label. Frigidaire, not Kenmore. The second newer model (Machine B) is ELECTROLUX Model FBD2400KB9B The gasket is mostly the same, and you list the same part ofr both machines. It has air holes, not a center notch, BUT 1) the aligning "notch" is curiously on the left, not the right. Since the notch doesn't actually align with anything on the machine, I can't figure out why it's reversed. You said in video to "align the notch to the right" but if that were done with the B gasket,it would be upside down and the flange edge would face the wrong direction. and 2) About 3/8" is NOT cut away on each end of the fastening edge, as it is on this part). I see no obvious reason for the change (2) above, and suspect they just decided the cut-away wasn't part on the fastening edge was not needed and the alignment tab was placed on the Left in later models. (but your video would then be wrong) The video accuracy (for the B machine) is your problem and should be looked into. As for me, can I Just ignore the alignment notch side and use the gasket I have (from machine B)? If it works, I can either return the new gasket or keep it as a spare? I think yes, but want to check first. Please answer ASAP. Waiting with tools in hand :) Thanks. I LOVE THIS SITE :)
Answer Matt, the gasket 809006501 for the Kenmore model is going to be a different design from the gasket 5304500204 for the Frigidaire model. As this is the case, using the correct one for the particular model would be recommended as alternating from what an appliance is designed to use can affect performance. In regards to alignment, aligning the gasket as it is set originally by the manufacturer would be the recommendation. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, October 26, 2022
