Dee for Model Number ffhs2611lw0 I bought the fridge new, it is 5 years old. and there only two of us in the house, and This ice maker has been broke in one way or the other the whole time. It takes forever to make ice,we've checked every thing with that. To switch back from crushed to whole cube, you have to move the bar buy hand, the clear round chute has been cracked for I don't know how long, it is rusted up, the side walls on the bin aren't high enough to pile the ice up to shut off on it own,and now the auger assembly is broke.
Answer Dee, It seems you have a few issues, replacement of the ice bin 241860803 is probably the best and easiest option, just a few too many issues. The crushed and cubed ice is controlled by the shifter arm on the side of the bin and a solenoid 241675704 in the rear cover at the back of the freezer compartment behind the bin. You'll need to see if you get voltage back to the solenoid when cubed ice is selected and the paddle is pressed. Ice production is a result of various sources, With a temperature of -2°F to +5°F in the freezer, the rate of harvest will be 8 - 12 cycles per 24 hour period. The ice maker should fill with 2 to 3 oz. of water to produce the proper sized cubes, and cycle the ice maker properly ( every 90 minutes or so) and make sure the freezer temperature is 0 dgrs. +/- 3 dgrs.
