John L. for Model Number FGGF3054 Missing the last 4 numbers of the Model number. Gas Range elements all work fine as does the broiler but the main oven will not light. The ignitor gets glowing orange but it seems no gas is entering the oven. We had a small surge in electricity a day or two before this was noticed.
Answer Hello John, You should be aware that the gas valve is opened by current flow. In light of this and the fact that you said the ignitor is glowing orange leads me to believe the ignitor is failing. You see, if the current flow is sufficient, 3.2 to 3.6 amps, the ignitor will actually glow yellow to white-hot and the gas valve will open. If not, the ignitor 316489403 will need to be replaced.
