Manufacturer Part Number: 5304509459

The Door Switch is an OEM part for Frigidaire microwaves, designed to ensure the appliance operates safely by signaling when the door is securely closed. This switch is critical for preventing the microwave from running if the door is open, a key safety feature that protects users from exposure to microwave radiation.

Causes of a bad Door Switch can include mechanical failure due to normal wear and tear from repeated opening and closing of the microwave door.

Symptoms of a bad Door Switch include:

  • The microwave not starting or heating when the door is closed.
  • The appliance continuing to operate when the door is opened.
  • Intermittent operation or sudden stopping during use.
  • Displaying error messages related to the door or switches.

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Antonio, after leaving the unit unplugged for 10 minutes, the transformer 5304515184, magnetron 5304519335, capacitor 5304528930, and diode 5304509479 would need to be tested. The transformer primary windings (two terminals directly on the transformer) should measure .3 ohms, and the wire side windings should measure 118 ohms. The two-wire filament wires that are together should measure 0 ohms. The magnetron should measure less than 1 ohm from terminal to terminal, and 0L from the filament to the chassis. The capacitor should read several ohms initially and then start to read 0L. The diode would be tested for continuity and with the meter probes set to test the diode from one end to the other, and then reversed, the diode should read continuity in only one direction. If these all test good, then the issue would be in the relay to the transformer and the main control 5304477390 would need to be replaced.
