Manufacturer Part Number: WB27X10856

The Digitron is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It is an essential component of the microwave's control board, displaying settings, cooking times, and other information on the microwave's digital display.

Over time, the Digitron can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. If the Digitron is malfunctioning, it can affect the readability of the display or the functionality of the control panel.

Symptoms of a bad Digitron include:

  • The display being dim or completely dark
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information shown on the screen
  • Flickering or intermittent display issues
  • Unresponsive control buttons linked to the display

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Tony for Model Number ZSC1001KSS01

Hi, Yesterday I asked for help diagnosing my display that's intermittently erratic. More specifically it sometimes gets into a state where the display is off except for flashes/turns on in seemingly random areas - others have described this as "dancing" in this thread. Turning the dial doesn't seem to affect this behavior. But, if I cycle the power to the microwave the display goes back to normal for a while (hours, sometimes days). The response yesterday indicated the board related to the dial, but I don't think I was clear in my initial message that turning the dial didn't change anything. With this additional information/clarification does that diagnosis still make sense? Thanks, Tony

Answer

Tony, with the additional information provided, testing would be recommended. With the power supply to the appliance off, the power transformer WB20X10021 (part has been discontinued by the manufacturer) for the user controls would need to be tested to ensure that it is within operational tolerance. At the relay control WB27X32849 connection CN1, the white wire and black wire tested together should measure 23.2 Ohms. At the power board WB27X10861 connection CN7, it should measure 1.5 Ohms from the yellow wire to the black wire, 5.2 Ohms from black wire to white wire, and 1.1 Ohms from the red wire to the brown wire. If this tests good, it would be likely that the main control WB27X10858 has failed.
