Brandon for Model Number GFE28HMKEES

Hi there, I'm having an issue where my ice maker appears to be overfilling or leaking during the fill process, causing ice buildup around the bin. We're still getting plenty of ice, and they appear normal size, but every couple of weeks we have to break out big ice chunks that are preventing the mechanism from spinning to dispense the ice. We also have had the ice bin get stuck in the door due to the ice buildup. Do you think this is a symptom of a bad ice maker or something else? Thanks!

Answer

Hello Brandon, as a general rule with this type of problem the water valve WR57X10098 gets replaced first, (its located in the ice maker area in the door, not the one on the rear bottom of the cabinet) if the problem still occurs the ice maker [WR30X10164] gets replaced also.
