Kathy for Model Number PSHW6YGXCDSS My refrigerator is getting ice buildup next to the freezer at the very bottom side. When it goes to the defrost cycle it melts and pools water in the bottom the the fridge. I called GE and was given model number WR49X10152 and was told they no longer manufacture this. You have that part number listed as a main control board. Is this the part I need to fit my refrigerator model PSHW66YGXCDSS and fix the problem?
Answer Kathy, it is very likely that there is a defrost drain issue. If the evaporator cover in the bottom of the fridge is removed, the defrost drain can be checked to identify if ice has accumulated over the port. If it has, the drain would need to be thoroughly cleaned with hot tap water and the drain tube WR02X11848 may need to be replaced if it has pinched. Read More...
