Manufacturer Part Number: WH23X28418

The Drain Pump is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It's engineered to remove the used water from the washer at the end of each cycle, ensuring the machine is properly emptied and ready for the next load. This component is responsible for the circulation and expulsion of water, playing a vital role in the washing machine's ability to clean clothes thoroughly.

Causes of a bad Drain Pump can include obstructions within the pump itself, such as small garments or debris that can block water flow, or mechanical failures like a burnt-out motor or damaged impeller blades.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump include:

  • Water remaining in the drum after the wash cycle has completed.
  • The washing machine failing to start due to sensing water from a previous cycle.
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Sandra for Model Number GTW460A506WW

The washer will not fill up... I have had 2 servicemen out and they don't know... One from where I bought the machine was under warranty.... Said they were supposed to fill like that.... You tell me I put 3 sweatpants outfits in (that is 6) pieces of clothes size small. That the water u can not even see in the machine and clothes come out dirty... I was told to put on heavy duty cycle at regular load...Fill ...... I want my machine fixed ... Do u have a fix for it???

Answer

Sandra, if the water fills just for a few minutes before it stops filling and there are no error codes, the main control WH22X38441C would be the likely cause of failure if precise fill and super fill have the same outcome. While this model is a high-efficiency appliance that uses less water, the water should cover almost all of the clothes when the necessary fill setting is used. An average small load should fill the water up to 1/3 of the tub, medium almost halfway, and large would be just below the dispenser cup.
