John F. for Model Number GE JP350BOC1BB The large 9 inch burner is not heating up anymore. When turning the knob, the power goes on, but the burner does not. The last few days we noticed that even at a low temperature on the burner, it stayed at the highest level. Now it completely won't get hot or turn red anymore. Do I need to replace the burner or a switch?
Answer Hello John, This can be the infinite switch WB23M9 or the temperature limiter in the element assembly WB30T10099. You can use the tech sheet and a test meter to pinpoint the issue. Turn power off to the unit and disconnect the H1 wire from the infinite switch for the left front element, (the element giving the problem). Make sure it cannot contact ground or any other wiring and re-establish power to the unit. Test for 120Vac on the wire and at the element. There should be about 120Vac on the wire and on the terminal, (L1 and L2). If the voltage is missing on the H1 terminal on the switch, replace the switch. The same would apply if the voltage were missing from the H2 terminal when testing the other side. If, in either test, the 120Vac is missing from the wire to the element, the limiter in the element assembly is the cause. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, February 24, 2016
